Our Story

Rocky Point Rattery is a small, family owned and operated rodentry run by us, Amanda and Bill Auxier. I (Amanda) am a veterinary technician and we both have always loved animals and had many pets as children, but were never able to have rodents. 

We bought our first pair of rats from our local pet store in 2004. They were two sweet boys we named Mack and Miles, and they were the ones that started our love of all rodents, especially rats. Over the years we have owned and loved many rats that we got from the pet store but, eventually, all that were available to us were feeder rats being sold as pets. Since these rats were not bred to be pets they weren't always the friendliest, although we loved them anyway!

In early 2019 we were looking for our next pair of rats, but just couldn't find what we were looking for in our area. So we decided to start breeding and provide healthy, beautiful, pet quality rats to fellow rat lovers in our community.

Since then we have been blessed to be able to also start breeding friendly and healthy mice, African Soft-furs, and Syrian Hamsters. We hope to add a few more rodent species in the near future.

We have a closed rattery located in Rocky Point, in southeastern NC, just outside of Wilmington. We produce primarily Dumbo rats in many different colors and coat types, but we sometimes have Standards as well. We also have litters of Rex, Double Rex, Red-eyed Marten, Silvermane, and more! 

All of our animals are bred for health and temperament first, appearance second. We hope to be able to share our love of pet rodents with you.
